Danes have appetite for investment in funds

The value of private Danes’ fund shares is at its highest level since spring 2008. In a new analysis, Danmarks Nationalbank concludes that private Danes since March 2009 have bought fund shares but cleared off direct investments in shares and bonds. The tendency recurs in the Federation of Danish Investment Associations’ official industry statistics. Since the turn of the year private Danes have bought fund shares for DKK 22 bn. in retail funds.

According to VP Securities private Danes had fund shares for DKK 263 bn. by the end of July 2010. It means that private Danes’ fund shares have increased DKK 64 bn. in value since the end of 2008.

The 825,000 Danes holding fund shares can look back on July as a good month. Stock exchanges offered great pluses. Danish bonds closed nearly flat, however, funds with high yield bonds had high rates of return.
